“Thieves of Kisses”
(Beyond…Prod.)
Italy has always delivered good, but always strange, bands in all aspects
very original and revolucionary for their times. This band follows that
path. Full of machinery with the voices and guitar as the only
organic elements, this band travels through several musical aspects.
Sometimes, it seems like Doom, someother, it's Black or even Gothic.
It's all deprived of influences that's for sure.
With so much of machines working this work loses some of the natural
and organic environment and it sometimes seem artificial glued together,
very synthetic and the organic element seem to have problems to adjust
to the rhythm of the machine. I'm talking about the beautiful female
vocals that sometimes seem out of tune with the beats.
But most of the times, the result is good, with very good moments of
original sounds. I wonder what they would sound with "real"
instruments?
The male voice is sometimes a whispered low pitched voice and other
times is very aggressive, I pitched in Black Metal Style.
The keyboards and samplers are all over in every songs and the guitars
are very well in almost all of the songs.
The musical structure of this work is very well structured, making a
non-linear trip through the entire CD.
Globally speaking, it's OK, it primes for it's intent to make something
original, but they sometimes complicate what could be a simple thing.
A more organic work is awaited....
