DRASTIC
“Thieves of Kisses”
(Beyond…Prod.)

Open your mind and hunt down this gem. This isn't a new release (1998) but I just recently got my hands on it after reading many great things about it. Well, they deserve all those great reviews, and here's one more to add to that list. First off, what strikes me most is Drastic is a one man project (with an excellent guest female vocalist throughout the album) and that just brings it to a new level. Musically it's rooted in black metal territory, but there's a nice addition of nifty keyboards and unique techno sounds and beats mixed in nicely. It in no way sounds overdone like a million sellout bands that used to be "grim" and now play electronic garbage like Ulver, Dodheimsgard, Fleurety, etc. This is the direction those bands should have turned as this is truly a fresh mix of a lot of different styles. I don't know what has happened to this band in the 2 years since this was released, but on the back of my promo it lists drastic@tin.it as a contact, so if you have trouble finding this classic on Beyond...Prod. e-mail Chris Buchman, the man behind this masterpiece, and tell him you need one... ASAP. (Wayne)
